BIRMINGHAM — At Saturday's Alabama Republican Party winter meeting, Bill Harris defeated Trump ally John Blanchard and incumbent committeeman Paul Reynolds in an upset.

Harris, who serves as U.S. Rep. Barry Moore's (R-Enterprise) district director, was thought to be the underdog heading into Saturday's election. He and Reynolds both topped former President Donald Trump-endorsed John Blanchard.

Harris won the runoff election between him and Reynolds shortly after that.

The national committeeman and committeewoman are responsible for serving the state party at the Republican National Committee.

Vicki Drummond ran unopposed for the committeewoman position, despite an effort to draft Lindy Blanchard.
