For the second time this month, Huntsville councilman Devyn Keith has had his shoplifting trial date rescheduled, this time until August 22.

Judge Patricia Demos filed the order for the new bench trial date last Friday, May 19.

Keith's original May 10 court date was moved to June 28 after his lawyer, John Taylor, requested more time to review video evidence after struggling with technical difficulties.

Neither the defense nor the prosecution appears to have filed a motion for the second rescheduling, and the reason behind Demos' order to move the bench trial remains unclear.

Keith faces multiple counts of misdemeanor theft of property for allegedly shoplifting from several Walmarts in the Huntsville area on 31 separate occasions. He has pleaded not guilty.
