Governor Kay Ivey is reportedly doing fine after being evaluated for dehydration by paramedics at a campaign event for congressional candidate Caroleene Dobson in Pike Road.
Ivey attended the event at SweetCreek Farm Market in Pike Road on Sunday evening. According to Ivey's communication director, Gina Maiola, the 80-year-old governor was resting at the governor's mansion after being evaluated by paramedics at the event.
"While campaigning for Caroleene Dobson at an event this evening, the governor got dehydrated," Maiola said. "She received fluids and was evaluated on site out of precaution. She immediately felt better and is at home doing well this evening."
Rumors immediately began swirling that Ivey had been transported to the hospital. However, Maiola said those claims were untrue.
It was great seeing so many Caroleene Dobson supporters out tonight at SweetCreek Farm Market. I have known Caroleene her whole life, and I can tell you there is nobody better to represent AL-2 in Washington.

Speculation over Ivey's health has surrounded her since before she became governor. In 2015, a trooper was allegedly removed from Ivey's protective detail when she was lieutenant governor after telling his superiors that she suffered "stroke-like symptoms" during a trip to Colorado.
Likewise, in 2022, ahead of the general election, more rumors circled that Ivey was experiencing medical complications.
