The Frederick Douglass Republican (FDR) Engagement Strategy is not of human origin. It was not given to me by any man, nor was I taught it. I received it by divine revelation ─ from God.
We should be exceedingly grateful to have Frederick Douglass’ point of view, philosophy and literary legacy about liberty to help us understand and expose the tyrannical methods Marxists use to enslave us. When we are serious about defeating Marxism and defending freedom, we make Douglass an integral part of our liberty message. Why do I repeat this statement as often as I do?
Leveraging the liberty message of Douglass, an ex-slave, is the best way to awaken and educate people about the ruthlessness and cruelty of Marxism and the value of liberty rather than quoting someone who had never suffered oppression. I experienced and observed, on numerous occasions, how the liberty message of Douglass awakened and transformed the thinking of staunch liberals, progressives, socialists, communists and Marxists.
Most people indoctrinated into Marxism have never been introduced to America’s greatest freedom fighter, Frederick Douglass, and his liberty message. Once they hear it, they are enlightened and want to know more about Douglass’ life and his thoughts on liberty. These individuals often decide to change how they vote.
Imitating past practices of oppression
Ecclesiastes 1:9 (The Voice Translation) states, “What has been, that will be; what has been done, that will be done. Nothing is new under the sun; the future only repeats the past.”
It never ceases to amaze me how these words of King Solomon, written over 2,000 years ago, prove true today. The techniques of oppression used by plantation slave masters are identical to the tactics being employed by Marxist Democrats today–the slave government. In his 1850 speech, "The Nature of Slavery," Douglass warned us about the “first aim” of oppressors:
The first work of slavery is to mar and deface those characteristics of its victim which distinguish men from things, and persons from property. Its first aim is to destroy all sense of high moral and religious responsibility. It reduces man to a mere machine. It cuts him off from his Maker, it hides him from the laws of God, and leaves him to grope his way from time to eternity in the dark, under the arbitrary and despotic control of frail, depraved, and sinful fellowmen.
In other words, Marxism (slavery) and God cannot co-exist. As with plantation slave masters, “the first work of” Marxism is to cut us off from God. Also, they separate children from their parents.
Douglass was separated from his mother when he was an infant. This was a common practice among slave owners to break the natural affection between mother and child. Douglass recalled seeing his mother only four or five times after she walked 12 miles after dark to visit him. His mother, Harriet Bailey, died when Douglass was seven years old. He was hardly affected by the news of her death because he never saw his mother enough to know her as such.
Marxism (slavery) destroys the family. Douglass-ism restores family unity.
The long-awaited solution for conservatives … Your prayers have been answered
Far too many high school and college campuses have become left-wing indoctrination workshops. It should not come as a surprise that a 2020 survey conducted by polling firm YouGov found that 49% of Americans consider socialism to be a good thing, with Gen Z group (ages 16-23) as the strongest supporters.
Most people indoctrinated into Marxism have never been introduced to Frederick Douglass’ Liberty message.
Far too many conservative parents and grandparents have no clue how to teach their children about liberty. It is no wonder, as conservatives, many of us spend sleepless nights feeling helpless because we are unable to liberate our family and friends from Marxist indoctrination─awakening them about the damaging things going on in our country and to themselves.
Do any of these situations apply to you?
Your family member or friend went off to college and returned home a devout Marxist
Your Marxist-indoctrinated family and friends are calling you a racist
You find yourself cut out of your grandchild’s life because of your conservative ideas
You have considered taking your Marxist-indoctrinated child/grandchild out of your will
To keep the peace, you live by the rule not to discuss politics during family get-togethers
You bite your tongue or disappear to the other room whenever politics is discussed
You are no longer on speaking terms with your closest family members and friends
You are unfriended on social media
You are unwelcomed for Thanksgiving dinners
So, how do you engage your Marxist-indoctrinated family and friends while effectively sharing and defending your conservative point of view? How do you ignite a passion for liberty within them? In other words, what is the best way to teach someone about the value of liberty? The answer is simple ─ the FDR Engagement Strategy.
FDR Engagement Strategy
Here’s a brief run-through of the approach:
Stop using the word “conservative”
In my book "Frederick Douglass Republicans: The Movement to Re-Ignite America’s Passion for Liberty" and in several of my previous editorials, I made the case the word “conservative” has a racist connotation because of the left’s negative propaganda and Republican Party missteps.
The word “conservative” instantly slams the door to effective political discourse. Telling someone you are a “conservative” is like admitting you are a racist or an Uncle Tom. So, stay away from the word.
Learn to leverage the “Frederick Douglass Republican” moniker as your political identity. An oxymoron to many, the phrase “Frederick Douglass Republican” creates curiosity and a mystery in the receiver’s mind, thereby giving you the opportunity to win the narrative.
Study to show yourself approved
Be genuine in leveraging the FDR Engagement Strategy. In the Bible, 2 Timothy 2:15 (The Voice Translation), the Apostle Paul offers this guidance:
“Timothy, do everything you can to present yourself to God as a man who is fully genuine, a worker unashamed of your mission, a guide capable of leading others along the correct path defined by the word of truth.”
Create trust and credibility for yourself
This step is very important, and it must be executed right off the bat to overcome the notion that you are a racist. I discuss this step in more detail in Lesson 37 of the Frederick Douglass Republican Engagement Strategy online course. I highly recommend that you register today. Why? Because the FDR Engagement Strategy is a game-changer, to which the left has no answer for, and they never will. See the link below.
Make use of values to form unity
Douglass’ 12 Life-Empowering Values are the common ground that most Americans agree upon. Leveraging what Douglass said about these values helps to prevent confrontation and unshackle a person’s Marxist mindset.
They are: (1) Respect for the U.S. Constitution, (2) respect for life, (3) belief in the limited power of government, (4) belief in personal responsibility, (5) economic prosperity, (6) education-parental choice, (7) women's rights, (8) the right of the people to keep and bear arms, (9) free speech, (10) religious liberty, (11) immigration and (12) the right to vote.
Leverage Douglass’ quote regarding any Life-Empowering Values
They are all important, but Life-Empowering Values number 1, 5, 6, 8 and 9 have been the most impactful for me when I engage and educate liberals about the importance of liberty.
For example, by leveraging Douglass’ quote about the Three-Fifths Clause of the U.S. Constitution, I was able to pique the interest of three BLM members (trained Marxists). They were speechless to learn what Douglass had to say. They wanted to know more.
Once again, most people indoctrinated into Marxism have never been introduced to Frederick Douglass’ liberty message. Give them a dose of Douglass!
