After the work of the U.S. Constitutional Convention was completed in 1787, the story of an unforgettable occurrence made the rounds. Supposedly, while walking out of Independence Hall, Mrs. Elizabeth Powell of Philadelphia asked Benjamin Franklin, “Well, doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?” To which Franklin responded, “A republic, madam, if you can keep it.”

Some people fail to understand that the convention was held because democracy under the Articles of Confederation, which had held the States together during the American Revolution, was inadequate to permanently secure the God-given freedom and equal rights of the American people. The founders recognized that a Constitutional Republic, which granted only limited powers to the government, was needed for that purpose.

Marxist-Liberal Democrats are doing everything possible to rob us of our liberties and tear down our Republic. They demean our founding principles, mock Christianity, attack the nuclear family (parents of opposite genders) and intentionally encourage racial strife to gain a political advantage. The Left will not rest until our Republic is no more and America is fundamentally transformed into a Communist nation.

How do we keep our Constitutional Republic? And, most importantly, are you willing to make a difference?

How do we keep our Constitutional Republic? First of all, the idea of solely relying on political leaders or waiting for the cavalry to come to save us is a non-starter. The cavalry is not coming. No one is going to save us. Instead, we are going to have to save ourselves. To win the battle against Marxist-Liberal Democrats and preserve our Republic, the responsibility fully rests with the power of individual citizens, those who are willing to engage and know how to ignite America’s passion for Liberty.

In other words, the only way to keep our Republic boils down to effective local-level or one-on-one engagement ─ a successful political discourse with your family, friends and fellow citizens about freedom. This political exchange is what saving our Republic is ultimately all about.

Are you willing to make a difference? The current state of affairs in the United States can lead many to believe that Marxist-Liberal Democrats are winning, and freedom no longer stands a chance. But we still have our U.S. Constitution, and more importantly, we still have the Liberty message of Frederick Douglass.

Unlike most Americans both at that time and today, Frederick Douglass studied the U.S. Constitution carefully and took the tedious extra step of reading the notes from the Constitutional Convention, which were not released until 50 years after our Constitution was ratified. The writings and speeches of Frederick Douglass provide us with the way to defeat Marxism and ignite America’s passion for Liberty. If we choose to leverage it.

Karl Marx, ironically born the same year as Frederick Douglass, demonstrated his clear understanding of how democracy leads to complete Communist control by a small class of elites who claim to rule for the benefit of all the people in his “Communist Manifesto.”

Frederick Douglass, on the other hand, continued to support freedom and equal rights for all Americans under the U.S. Constitution, eventually becoming the greatest thinker, speaker, and writer on freedom and human rights in U.S. history.

We need more Americans to be activated and engaged, to educate all Americans about the difference between freedom secured by our Constitutional Republic and the hoax that freedom is equal to democracy, which leads to complete control under Communism.

We can win this battle and take back our nation only if we are wise enough to embrace and leverage the Liberty message of America’s greatest Liberty messenger, Frederick Douglass.

We can save our Republic in one or two elections if we fight back like never before and engage our fellow citizens as Frederick Douglass Liberty Ambassadors, or better yet, Frederick Douglass Republicans.
