Tony Hinchcliffe’s recent remark disparaging Puerto Rico as a “floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean” poses a potential liability for the Trump campaign. In a closely contested race, every constituency counts – and the sizable Puerto Rican community could be especially pivotal.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the Hinchcliffe incident was intentionally orchestrated to generate negative headlines for the Trump campaign – giving liberal journalists ammunition for their misleading narratives – painting conservatives as racists.

How do I know?

In 2013, I led a breakout session at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) titled "Trump the Race Card." During the Q&A segment, a white male attendee made a shocking racist remark, claiming that slavery was beneficial for black people and suggesting that Frederick Douglass should have felt grateful to his master for the care he received.

The conservatives in the room were quick to express their disagreement, voicing their disgusted reactions with audible boos. However, liberal journalists in attendance seized upon this moment, intentionally misinterpreting the audience's reaction, crafting a false narrative about what transpired.

They reported that conservatives attending my breakout session expressed approval of his racist comments. This barefaced lie led to a flurry of deceitful narratives circulating in the national media. By depicting conservatives as morally flawed, it becomes easier to label them as racists.

After the seminar concluded and emotions settled, I had a 20-minute private conversation with the young man who made the controversial statement during the Q&A. Following our discussion, I was convinced that the racially insensitive comment uttered by him was orchestrated as a deliberate setup to provide liberal journalists with a negative story to exploit.

Interestingly, this young man spoke highly of Booker T. Washington, a respected black American who founded Tuskegee University. This young man even bought two copies of my book. Such actions are not typical of someone with racist views.

Later that day, my suspicions about the young man's racist remarks being a setup were confirmed when I spoke with a black liberal journalist who attended my seminar. I asked him about his plans for covering my breakout session. He requested an off-the-record conversation and explained that he couldn't write about anything I said.

Puzzled, I inquired why, to which he responded that my remarks were “too positive.” He revealed that his editor directed him "not just to cover the 2013 CPAC, but to write a negative story about the event."

Although he wanted to report the truth, his boss required him to write a story based on a false narrative. I found it quite interesting that this black liberal journalist actually bought one of our Frederick Douglass Republican™ t-shirts.

Later that day, I received an email from a national MSNBC correspondent, asking me to give her a call to discuss the CPAC event. She inquired if I saw the video capturing the incident. I responded that I hadn't watched the video as there was no need, given I personally facilitated the breakout session.

The MSNBC reporter then asked me if it was true the conservatives in attendance at the breakout session applauded the racially charged remarks made by the young man. I made it clear that they were actually appalled and did not applaud at all. I emphasized that reporting it otherwise would be a lie.

Even though I clearly explained to her that the conservative attendees spoke out against the racist remarks, her news report that evening told the opposite story.

Many people wonder if the left-wing media engages in this type of premeditated deception. From my experience, they certainly do.

I've come to realize that most, if not all, liberal journalists are confined, almost as if they're under a form of intellectual slavery. They are trapped in a system that pressures them to report news through a left-leaning lens – creating false narratives about conservatives to write negative stories that meet their editors' expectations.

Regardless of whether a journalist leans liberal or conservative, it's essential for all of them to have the moral courage to be steadfast truth-tellers.
