Well, the election is over. Donald Trump is our next president!
It was a sweep. Trump won the electoral college and the popular vote. The Republicans also won the majority of the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. Trump won with what seems a mandate to rule!
The shift in demographics was a major shock for Democrats. They lost ground in several demographics they usually rely on, women being one of them. Democrats lost white women with no college degree by large margins. They did, however, gain the white, college-educated female vote.
But let me redeem educated women and share that not all of us joined in that shift. I, a well-educated white woman, voted for Trump and the Republican agenda.
I have my B.A. in Law and Politics, Juris Doctor, and LLM. I don’t give my list of degrees to brag, but to show that I did a lot of study in politics, history and law. So, I think I can safely say I am by no means ignorant.
If you were to listen to most mainstream media outlets, they would tell you I voted for Trump because I’m misogynistic, racist, or don’t care about my rights. Women like me have been screamed at by people saying that if Trump wins, we will lose our rights. I think there were even some gloomy predictions of being thrown into a camp.
Yet, despite the threats, name calling and character disparagements, I and many other women voted for Trump. Not because we hate women. But because we love our neighbors, families, country and fellow citizens.
I have not believed for an instant the threat of losing my rights. Usually, when women are told they will lose their rights, they mean abortion. Many TikTokers bemoaned waking up with fewer rights the day after the election than they had the day previous. But this is dramatic hysteria veering into absurdity. The current law on abortion is that it rests with the states. States get to decide whether to allow abortions and how much. Trump has given every indication he does not plan to change that. Of course, it goes without saying that there isn’t a right to an abortion anyway. If women need the ability to kill our children in order to feel happy, then we have a whole load of problems that need addressing before we even consider letting one of our own become president.
Nevertheless, I cannot pretend I am not loving the reaction of leftist women vowing not to have sex with any man who doesn’t line up with them ideologically or promises to commit to them in protest of the election results. It’s wonderful to see the left discover marriage.
The left did their best to bang the drum of abortion as a top issue, but at the end of the day, it ranked third or lower for Americans, even women. I am a wife and mother. I do the grocery shopping for my family. I have watched the price of everything rise to an absurd height. The economy was the top reason women voted against Harris — who was just a continuation of the current administration. We want an affordable economy that gives us the freedom to choose whether or not to stay home with our children.
Another reason the left lost several women was because of the transgender ideology and issue. We don’t want to see men encroaching upon our daughter’s rights to privacy. We are tired of having to explain why men should not be allowed to compete against women. And we are degraded every time we try to make the special skills women have gender-neutral in order to include deluded men. It makes me burn with anger to be called a chestfeeder rather than a breastfeeder. It’s not an easy task and men for sure cannot do it!
Moms were also attracted to the push for healthy ingredients in our foods promised by the power duo of Trump and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. We’re tired of all the extra work required just to make sure our children aren’t eating anything poisonous.
These are just the top reasons women seemed to vote for Trump. For me personally, those reasons played a heavy role in my decision. Other factors included the Democrats' heavy anti-family and anti-marriage agenda and the amazing teammates Trump chose. I am watching these cabinet picks with as much interest and excitement as Swifties watch for more mediocre music from Taylor Swift.
I am truly looking forward to the next four years with Ron-Swanson-level excitement. And I think many women are joining me.
