As most of my readers know, I am a stay-at-home mom. So, of course, I am writing this in the quiet hours after my children are already asleep.

As I was putting my three-year-old to bed, I asked him what I should write about. His reply? “Tell them they don’t have to be scared.”

And now I’m going to do the corny thing preachers and communion leaders should never do, namely, turn that cute story into a point.

My son is telling people what he himself wants to hear. He fears monsters. But what do others fear? The world.

There is so much uncertainty today, and our world is in upheaval. The good news, however, is that we are steadily heading back towards truth.

A report recently showed that Bible sales last year were up 22%. That number does not include the number of Bibles sold during Black Friday or the Christmas season—that’s just during a normal buying season. Further reports indicate these sales are mostly due to first-time buyers, unlike those in my household who buy different translations and commentaries.

People are searching for the Truth.

Now, everything from here is speculation, but that’s what I am here to do, give my opinion.

After a holiday season of eating nothing but sugary, greasy, or all-around unhealthy food, our bodies are usually ready to eat something healthy. Right after Christmas, my body is screaming at me, “For the love of all that is good, woman, please eat something green!!”

I think a similar thing is happening in the culture. Our culture has been on a steady diet of ideology that is untrue and harmful. We are surrounded by books, media, lectures, education, corporations, stores, and even churches telling us things that are not and never have been true. Things such as:

  • Men can be women, women can be men

  • Breastfeeding women are chest feeders

  • White people are inherently racist; all other races are inherently oppressed

  • Marriage can be whatever you want it to be

  • People can be defined by their sexuality

This kind of thinking is everywhere. And you cannot contradict it because if you do, you will be gaslit into believing you are a bad person and are canceled.

People are tired of it. And just like junk food, they know it is bad for them and want something better.

Returning to the Bible sales statistics, overall book sales in America only increased 1%, but Bible sales increased 22%! More people are buying the Bible than are buying the latest book trying to make you empathize with LGBTQ people.

There’s a reason for that. The Bible is true. Objectively true. These other ideologies are a lie. People are waking up to that.

As a culture, we are rejecting DEI programs. We are pushing woke ideology out of our institutions and out of our curriculum. There are increased pushes to keep this material away from children. Why? Because we are intolerant? No! Because it is not true.

People know this world is lost. They know they are lost. They know something is wrong. Finally, they are seeking answers in the right place. And that gives me hope for our future.

“Rather, let God be true and every man a liar….” - Romans 3:4
