Alabama Republican Party Chairman John Wahl worked diligently for months to set up a U.S. Senate Republican candidate debate for broadcast by five Nexstar TV stations covering all of Alabama’s major metropolitan areas.

Wahl solicited available dates from all candidates. Senate candidate Mike Durant refused to give dates and, instead, demanded that Senate candidates Katie Britt and I offer three available dates. Britt and I tendered May 10, 12 and 17 as mutually agreeable debate dates.

Durant rejected them all without offering alternatives.

The Alabama Republican Party and the TV stations agreed to host the Senate debate without Durant. Katie Britt refused their debate offer.

Because of Durant and Britt, there will be no live debate to help voters decide who best represents their values.

Trojan Horse candidates Mike Durant and Katie Britt refuse debates because they will be exposed and embarrassed by their lack of skill and public policy knowledge. Their strategy is to run polls, hire expensive marketing people, and to air slick ads that parrot back to the public what the polls say the public wants to hear, all paid for by open borders and cheap foreign labor special interest groups or far left-wing nut-jobs who prefer amoral, dictatorial Socialism over the America First agenda. Notably, there is no requirement that either candidate believe their ads.

If Britt and Durant are afraid to debate me, why would anyone expect them to be able to stand up to Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer or the Biden Administration?

Katie Britt’s ‘no debate’ motivation is clear. Britt is afraid of being live, unscripted, on camera, and forced to defend:

  • The Britt team’s false, scurrilous, negative attack ads.

  • Britt’s unanimous monetary and endorsement support by special interest groups that demand open borders and cheap foreign labor.

  • Britt’s support for more tax increases than any other Republican in Alabama history.

  • Britt’s being a registered lobbyist 5 of the last 7 years, pushing laws that put special interest groups first and America and Alabama last.

  • Britt’s support for anti-Second Amendment Red Flag Laws, or firing military personnel who refuse vaccines, or drafting our teenage daughters.

Mike Durant’s ‘no debate’ motivation is clear. Durant is afraid of being live, unscripted, on camera, and forced to defend:

  • Durant’s not having voted in a single Alabama Republican primary, Republican run-off, legislative race, or governor’s race in the past 13 years.

  • Durant’s publicly stating, on video, that the best way to bring law and order to American cities is by disarming the American people.

  • Durant’s publicly, cruelly promising his rich corporate buddies, on video, that he supports massive importation of cheap, foreign blue-collar and white-collar labor in order to suppress wages of struggling American families who are already hurt by runaway inflation.

  • Durant’s candidate recruitment by left-wing, Never Trumpers, who publicly promised Durant $15 million if he would run because he fits the mold of Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, and Mitt Romney (all are Never Trumpers who voted for Joe Biden’s radical Supreme Court nominee).

  • Durant’s personally making tens of millions of dollars in profits via exploitation of special privileges that let him exorbitantly bill taxpayers.

I am always willing to take questions from the public and answer honestly about what I believe and why. Anything less is a disservice to the people of Alabama. Unlike Britt and Durant, I conduct town halls throughout Alabama.
