Thousands showed up at Coleman Coliseum at the University of Alabama campus on Wednesday for a night of worship hosted by Unite Bama, and a large number left with their lives forever changed.

The event was hosted by the same group that oversaw a similar wave of baptisms on Auburn University's campus last year, Unite US. Unite has been traveling to college campuses around the country, teaching and worshipping Jesus and His message.

Much like Unite Auburn, "scores" of students were baptized in Tuscaloosa following the end of the event. Videos and photos published on social media show students were baptized in the fountain at Government Plaza.

Passion Music, a popular Christian band that grew from the widely attended Passion Conference in Atlanta, Ga., led the music. Jennie Allen, a popular author and podcaster, was one of the speakers.

Unite US says on its website that every gathering has three main objectives.

The objectives are as follows:

SALVATION
For non-believers to hear a clear presentation of the Gospel in a welcoming environment. Acts 16:31; Romans 10:9

FREEDOM
For believers to know and experience true freedom from sin and burdens on their hearts. Galatians 5:1

COMMUNITY
For students to find community and discipleship through connection to local ministries and the local church. Ephesians 4:1-6
