Alabama native Case Dixon announced on Wednesday that he is challenging U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) for U.S. Congress District 6.

In a campaign announcement, Dixon said, "I'm running out of necessity. This is not a decision I take lightly. I truly feel I have no other choice."

"The birth of my first daughter completely changed everything," he stated. "She is counting on me to protect her. I cannot sit around and hope that someone else will do it. We need something different. The debt crisis that no one is really addressing, the impending collapse of Social Security and Medicare, the lack of healthcare options for rural communities, and the insider corruption in Washington is too much to ignore. If Gary Palmer won’t address these issues, I will."

Dixon, whose campaign website features images of him in medical attire, is a physical therapist assistant. He has worked in health care for seven years, according to a bio provided by his campaign.

"Send a citizen, not a politician," Dixon's website demands a refrain that echoes the one Palmer ran on over 10 years ago when he sought office.

Palmer announced in March that he will seek reelection for a seventh term. During the 2014 special election to fill the unexpired term of former U.S. Rep. Spencer Bachus (R-Vestavia Hills), Palmer pledged a self-imposed five-term term limit. He acknowledged in 2023 that his 2024 reelection bid contradicted the pledge but maintained that it was what he felt he was called to do.

Despite his broken term-limit pledge, Palmer won the Republican primary with over 80% of the vote in a newly drawn sixth congressional district in Alabama.

Dixon lays out his six key issues:

  1. Fiscal Discipline: Stop reckless spending, actually address the rising national debt, finally say no to sending our tax dollars overseas, end budget gimmicks, and secure the future of Medicare and Social Security
  2. Ethics Reform: Put a stop to the get rich quick scheme that has become Washington by enacting term limits, banning congressional stock trading, and shut down the abuse of leadership PACs. Congress should serve the people-not profit off them
  3. Break Big Pharma's Grip: Healthcare should put patients first. I support cutting red tape, expanding telemedicine and home care, empowering nurse practitioners, and rescheduling cannabis to respect states’ rights and improve access. This will save lives and reduce strain on taxpayer funded programs.
  4. Families First: The best thing Washington can do for families is get out of the way. I support simplifying the tax code, cutting rates, and eliminating outdated limits on care-related deductions—so families can keep more of what they earn. Strong families deserve freedom from federal interference, not red tape.
  5. Defend Life: Push for a nationwide ban on abortion and end the greatest tragedy our country has seen. Every one of us has rights endowed by God and the constitution. These rights have been ignored far too long.
  6. Protecting Liberty: Federal overreach is eroding the liberty and self-governance that make America strong. I will stand firm in defending the Constitution—every line and every principle—because protecting it protects our families, our communities, and our future.
