The innovation districts bill hasn't made its way to the Alabama Legislature yet this year, but we must be ready to head it off if it comes.

What does our increased use of once-obscene language in our conversations and in the public square say of our culture? Does it elevate our social and civil interactions, or is it one more sign of crudity in our increasingly ragtag civilization?

Candidate Trump repeatedly said during the 2024 campaign that if elected, he would put an end to the Ukraine war. But he didn’t say how.

The Alabama Legislature almost did the right thing in 2023 when they removed the tax on overtime workers – almost. 

“Pro-IVF” isn’t the same as “pro-life.” It’s the opposite. 

When it comes to AI and future technologies, we don’t have to passively accept what the powers-that-be impose upon us. We can and should follow the Amish model of publicly debating their human value.

The Trump administration made very clear that the military will once again be a bastion of common sense, a fortress of fortitude. It starts with ridding the ranks of the notion that wars are won by sensitive efforts to break glass ceilings.

Clearly, the costs of public education have provided few, if any benefits.

How do we build a future of flourishing rather than decline?

You do not have a right to an education. But parents have a right and duty to educate their children. And children have a right to be educated by their parents.

The horrible veterans bill making its way through the Alabama Legislature is raising questions.

In a society in which only geography and a loose agreement about social norms unites people, is propaganda a necessary force? Can it be a good thing?

If every request in the lawsuit is granted by the court, there is concern it will overturn Section 504 completely. It is a law that simply needs to be tweaked, not removed.

Our election officials are constantly working to secure our elections against evolving threats, from cyberattacks to logistical challenges in rural communities. They need the right tools to keep our elections safe, reliable and accessible. 

Well-educated is not the same as well-schooled. And sadly, most of what we call education today is actually schooling

We must be alert to possible encroachments on our constitutional liberties, even if those encroachments come from the Trump administration.

Children are disadvantaged when raised by a single mother, living in two separate houses, or having sporadic (or even frequent) contact with their non-residential father, regardless of how wealthy he may be.

Allowing the current counseling guidance for Alabama public schools to remain in place and maintaining connectivity to the ASCA puts all Alabama schools in jeopardy of losing federal funding.

The PBMs and mega-insurance companies are making billions of dollars while we are denied the vital medication we need and our pharmacists are in danger of closing their doors. This is a crisis.
