In a year with a Republican president, a Republican Senate, and a Republican House of Representatives, Republicans have only passed SIX pieces of legislation since Inauguration Day. For the record, I did think of one way congressional Republicans are currently useful – they serve as a bad example.

While I think President Trump’s pressure campaign can begin to tame the Woke Wild West at Harvard and other colleges, we must begin fighting a two-front war with conservative alumni placing pressure from the inside by withholding financial contributions, capital campaign funding, and other gifts until changes are made.

This isn’t about turning high schoolers into professionals. It’s about fairness. It’s about opportunity. And it’s about making sure Alabama doesn’t get left behind in a national shift that’s already well underway.

HB30 is not a partisan gimmick or bureaucratic overreach. It’s a common-sense measure requiring counties to conduct post-election audits after every general election.

HB445 neither bans all hemp-derived THC products, nor does it legalize recreational marijuana. What it does is introduce common sense controls on substances that are already federally legal.

At no point has any API employee made any reference to Rep. Whitt or his integrity regarding his sponsorship of HB445. But API has been consistent for many years regarding the negative societal impacts of the legalization and recreational use of illegal drugs.

Most politicians seem to let their unrestrained ambition lead them from one thing to the next with no clear destination defined all as the political winds buffet their aims to-and-fro until eventually they fall with angels’ pride.

Alabama’s rural areas have their own unique challenges that must be met, tackled and resolved, and as leader of the Alabama Senate, I have spent much of my time bringing laser-like focus to accomplishing this mission.

We needn’t agree with opinions and ideas that flow out of the Vatican. Yet given past encyclicals and their relevance to the culture, all Christians and preservationists of Western culture would do well to pay attention when the pope speaks. 

The president has inherent powers to control his subordinates and direct foreign policy. Thus, in his attempt to restore our republic, Trump is simply (and lawfully) flexing those powers.

Let’s be honest, Democrats are in complete disarray on an epic scale. There is no grand figure around which to rally their base. This should serve as a warning to Republicans.

Let’s encourage mothers as they go through the daily grind, rather than lecturing them on how many children they have or asking when they’re going to get a real job. Because it’s those women who are raising one of the few hopes we have for the future.
