In the midst of change and upheaval, who will teach our children?

Trump knows the media will chase outrage. He knows the left cannot resist racial controversy. And he knows that while journalists believe they are damaging him, they are often helping him stay relevant.

Canned music. It’s everywhere. You cannot get away from it. It is always playing in public spaces. Grocery stores, hotel lobbies, airplanes, colonoscopy exam rooms.

Those who have traveled to the Midwest or West have seen the wind turbine farms peppering the landscape. These “Skynet”-like structures are not only a blight to the skyline, but they kill birds and affect the ecosystem of the land. Solar panels present similar issues, not only destroying once-rich soil, but affecting wildlife and the surrounding areas.

Sports gambling is a growing threat to our children that too many adults still underestimate.

There’s criticism that CHOOSE applicants are overwhelmingly white or overwhelmingly from higher-income areas, leaving lower-income, minority students stranded in a failing system. But once the CHOOSE application opens to families of any income, there will be no barrier – except parents.

The Alabama Legislature has recently and commendably passed legislation shielding minors from exposure to inappropriate content. How about taking steps to ensure minors are exposed to highly appropriate content about our nation’s founding?

The East came to our rescue at least once before. Will our own Western leaders, by following these examples, allow it to do so again?    

Alabama’s hunting and fishing industry supports more than 25,000 jobs in our state. Yet it seems our politicians would rather see economic growth from the highest bidder instead of working to protect our environment and focus on our 3-billion-dollar hunting and fishing industry.

The greatest presidents, in my opinion, are those who respected the limits the Constitution places upon government and especially upon the executive branch, those who refrained from social engineering, and those who, insofar as possible, kept the nation out of wars.

Alabama HB161 is a clear example of well-intentioned legislation that would create unintended, unfortunate consequences.

Child trafficking is the most heinous of crimes against humanity. If you aren’t willing to stand for the children’s sake, you don’t deserve a nice, plush office on Capitol Hill or the privilege of representing us anymore.

When someone decides to flee from law enforcement, the danger doesn’t stop with that individual.

God has established civil rulers to care for the people He has placed under them, defending them against foreign enemies without and criminals within. From what I can see in Scripture, God has not given the civil ruler any duty toward aliens, other than fair treatment for those legal aliens within his borders.

All sin stems from the disorder of placing creation over Creator. Man has discovered unnumbered ways to miss the mark, yet there is one particularly modern way to place creation over Creator that this mere creature fears.

The mathematics are almost embarrassing in terms of their clarity: public employees would have fared better with low-cost index funds than with the RSA’s active management and its attendant complexities.
